Chores

I hate chores. A lot of people do. But I know they have to be done, or our house would be a pack-ratty wreck, which I would not like.
My chores:
  • dishes
  • clean bedroom
  • swish-n'-swipe upstairs and downstairs
  • sweep and mop kitchen floor
  • every now and then vacuum
  • take out ALL garbages up and downstairs
  • dust
  • take out recycling
  • and sometimes other things...

Does anybody know a good way to do chores with a cheerful attitude? I know I can just choose to have a good attitude, but sometimes that is really hard. Tell me how you all do it!

Hi Bonbon,

My suggestion is to get a good book on tape or CD from the library and only listen to it while you do your chores. Sometimes I've gotten so involved in a story that I'll lose track of time and clean my whole house and do all my laundry without even realizing it.

If you try it, let me know how it works for you.

Love you!

That's a great idea! I'll try it. I hope I get involved so I won't notice I clean my whole house...then we wouldn't have chores for a while.

Well, you might think of the alternatives to having chores. What if you had no kitchen to sweep/mop, no toilet to sit upon, no posessions to throw away... you catch my drift.

Your chore list sounds similar to mine - which is another way of saying, get used to it cause chores will be with you til the day you die. So until you have a personal cleaning staff at your beckoned call, take pride in what you do. If you're going to mop the floor, own that shine! If you're going to clean the mirrors, give yourself a great big smile and shout outloud "You are the most beautiful girl in the world!"

As a kid, I loved cleaning to soundtracks - Camelot especially. Nothing like show tunes to help you wisk away the clutter. I guess a modern adaptation would be the Enchanted soundtrack in this realm. I'd just suggest not asking the local roaches and rats to help you with your duties. But in your mind...anything's possible. :)

Laugh while you work and it goes a lot faster. Find something humorous or educational about what you're doing. Think how your chores may be different if you lived in a tiny little apt in Tokyo or on a farm in Tuscanny.

OK now, I'm carried away and am just itching to go tackle my hard water stains. Love you!

I'd buy an ipod, download all your favorite songs, (like Bon Jovi!!!) then listen to them all while you're cleaning.

Well, the problem with that is I'd have to earn enough to buy an ipod. I actually have enough, but I'm saving it for a mission or college or something.
